About Us

The Lowdown

Founded in 2000 by Tom Black, Matt Thom and Dan Marsh, Subnet has been serving South Australian customer’s technology needs for more than 13 years. With head office and warehouse facilities located in Forestville, we’re a convenient 10 minute drive from Adelaide’s Central Business District.

Subnet’s early years were marked by consistent growth as the steady demand for IT professionals to design and integrate complex technology solutions drove the need to hire more experienced and qualified staff. Originally headquartered in Richmond, the space was quickly outgrown and was succeeded by a relocation to offices in Walkerville for several years.

A move to larger premises in Glandore in 2008, complemented by changes in South Australia’s reseller landscape, opened up a raft of opportunities to work with new customers and on-board more skilled engineers, and led to the establishment of dedicated, focused sales and project management departments. With 30 employees, our dedicated sales, service, helpdesk and administration teams regularly service over 300 customers across South Australia. In 2014 Subnet moved to its current premises located on Leader Street, Forestville.

Whilst the technology may have changed along the way, the founding values and principles of culture, customer service and sustainability have remained the same, summed up simply by our Mission Statement: to be our customer’s partner of choice for their technology needs.

City to Bay Fun-Run

2014: This year the team ran in support of Arthritis SA, raising over $1000 for the local charity. Most runners that participated for a second year also posted better results this time around, with many personal bests.

2013: In sponsorship of Autism SA, Subnet team members participated in the 2013 City-to-Bay Fun-Run to raise money for autism awareness and support initiatives, and to promote health and wellness.

Mo’vember

The issue of men’s mental health is one too often unspoken about. In the spirit of asking, “are you ok?”, and in wanting to raise money to support prostate and testicular cancer research, our team supports (and relishes) the sprouting of hairy upper lips every November.

With individual efforts extending to six years running, and this being the third year the team has banded together to promote awareness men’s health issues, the 2013 team of hardcore growers, “The Bureau of Gentlemen Lifters”, managed to raise more than $1,400 and we thank them for their efforts:

Zoos SA

Subnet’s partnership with Adelaide Zoo, South Australia’s largest animal welfare and conservation society, began in 2009 after installing a new Unified Communications solution to help their staff become more collaborative and productive.

Since then we have provided long-term sponsorship of conservation and welfare efforts, as well as enjoyed use of the various conference facilities and functions to host our customer-focussed technology sessions. We continue to build on our close working relationship with Zoos SA, and provide on-going support and sponsorship of their welfare and conservation efforts.

Autism SA

Subnet partners closely with Autism SA, an Adelaide-based not-for-profit agency, to raise awareness for autism-related support and awareness initiatives.

Our team raised funds directly for Autism SA during the 2013 City-to-Bay Fun-Run, and sponsored their Annual Gala Dinner event.

#liftclub

An initiative started by several members of the team in 2012, #liftclub is just one way we encourage our staff to choose a healthy, active lifestyle as part of their employment.

By promoting happiness and wellbeing as a key element of the corporate culture, we believe this attitude to health – initiated, developed and sustained by our staff – leads to a more inclusive workplace, a better quality of customer service, greater staff retention and low employee turnover, higher morale and a sustainable business built on the health and well-being of our staff.

Subnet’s Directors support staff exercising and working out during business hours, and they provide a secure, comfortable facility at the Glandore office that employees can access from early morning to late at night. All staff are encouraged to share the facility with one another, and to take care of it, in the spirit of helping their teammates achieve their work and health goals.
